There was an authentication problem or you did not launch chat from the Dashboard.

Click here to launch the login page in a seperate window.

Then click on the 'Momentum Chat' button from the Dashboard to try and launch this window again.

If Chrome 'Awe Snap' errors are preceding this error, try using Firefox instead as there is a known issue between Chrome and sending/receiving PMs for now.
